What an awesome cover over an equally awesome story. I have fallen in love with Beckett and Cerise, and by extension Kaci. And while this book could standalone, with its own HEA, it's part of an ongoing, developing story. But the books are both reasonably priced and available on Kindle Unlimited. A win-win.Despite what his co-worker says, wolf shifter Beckett Oswego is reasonably sure he hasn't met his One True Mate yet. And he believes he'd know, because she will be just like the girls he meets at the bar, fun and ready to party. Then he realizes someone has been in his house, and she smells like candy. And innocent.
Cerise Perkins has her escape planned out. She has been breaking into neighboring houses and stealing money for busfare to get her sister and herself away from their abusive father. Something keeps drawing her back to one particular house, though, and the man who lives there. Then the unthinkable happens. She's in jail and Kaci is in an interim home. She can't trust the police, but a man in scrubs appears at her bedside, the same man she robbed. She knows she can make him help her. He only needs a little "push".

I liked the story and characters. I enjoyed the mix of action and romance. It keeps the story moving fast.
It really is heartbreaking to see the harsh lives the young woman and teenager led and you know they deserve happiness and to find their families. Her finding her mate and discovering her true heritage is a true blessing.
He has also suffered and will do anything to protect his mate. He really wants to protect her and her sister from danger and hurt those who harmed them. The trust is built over time and the author didn't rush it even if they are fated to be together.
I absolutely loved Beckett and Cerise. Beckett comes face to face with the evil and deranged Gray while taking Cersie and Kacie to California to find Kacie's real parents. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Cerise and her little sister are breaking into house to try to get enough money to leave town. So they fond this tunnel and something just drawers Cerise to find what's at the end witch just happens to Beckket asleep in his bed having a nightmare but Cerise just needs to soull his when he wakes to find her she touches his and tells him to forget her. Beckket knows he is to be the next to meet his one true mate but he doesn't know when or if he already has. So that's the beginning of this very good story. So enjoy this read ! ! But if you get the audio remember it's not sync little thing through the book but there is a epilogue at the end of the audio but not in the book that is like a little bonus for the audio. So again enjoy the read ! !
I really love this series, the females are strong and independent and the males are yummy. But the best thing is there isn't the exact same formula for each couple. Yes you know their going to get together but each couple truly has their own story. I can't wait for Mac's ;-) his women has her work cut out...lol. I'm also eager to hear more about Lillian, she's been through sooo much. It would be nice to watch her grow up in a loving environment.
Cerise & Kaci have lived a hard scrabble life. Held as children by two awful people they can t escape the time is finally best for their run at freedom. But circumstances, fate and Beckett Oswego change all their plans. Beckett is a wolfen, part of the police force. But when he meets Cerise what his job is pales in light of the fact she is his one true mate. And the road trip that ensues to save Kaci reveals secrets, powers and love. Cerise is naive, innocent but strong. She's determined to help her little sister find the home she lost. Beckett is determined to protect Cerise. The supernatural trials and tribulations that result are suspenseful, worrisome and revealing. Wonderful story of friendship and creating family from those you choose.
Beckett has definitely been one of my favorite members of the team since the first book but I liked him even more after his story which lets face it should be the point of his story. My favorite line" you here to kill me darlin'" now where that comes in you'll just have to read to find out. I do wish we had a bit more about his past but I think that will come out in later books like with the others. Cerise and Kaci always in survival mode come across Beckett not by chance and our journey begins. There are definitely some things that they have to overcome and a few surprises to keep you in your toes and some new developments that have me really excited to see where things are going to go.
I’ll admit - I wasn’t really liking this entry in the series up to the 40% mark (give or take), and I wasn’t liking Beckett much, either, due to his internal dialogue voice. He was different from how I saw him in the earlier books. And I was leery of a total innocent like Cerise gettin’ down with someone as worldly and crude as Beckett could apparently be. It took some time for them to actually *meet*.
...honestly, the virgin meets experienced player trope is not my favorite, and as the series goes on, one of its premises has not been explored - that the OTM is *not* destined for one specific mate but can have sex with others or have relationships with others. So, what happened to it? The women aren’t supposed to be nailed down to one shiften until they actually mate. I’m wondering why Khain, the demon, didn’t sniff out Cerise as a potential mate, and why Grey didn’t tell him about her.
However, this is one installment in a growing series (only half-way done according to the author!) so perhaps other OTMs won’t be virgins nor “pure” by their own choice. And the guy has to actually work for her choice in *him* instead of letting their sexual attraction make it for them.
